Experience an abundance of pretty views, one of the most remarkable advantages of European train travel. Revel in the ever-changing, diverse scenery comfortably from the large windows of cozy trains, all made possible with an Interrail Global Pass. Secure your pass, choose a window seat, and embark on some of the suggested routes to ensure an unforgettable journey.
An Interrail Global Pass is a rail pass for the use of European residents. It offers unlimited train journeys in 33 European countries. The pass prices start from €258 but vary with the type of pass.
The primary difference between first and second classes lies in the amenities offered and the level of comfort. First class offers more privacy, and quiet surroundings with better amenities like wider work surfaces, cozy seats, better power access, and other facilities. The second class is ideal for travelers who are on a budget yet require a comfortable ride. While first-class passes are valid in both first and second class, second-class passes are valid only in second class.
Yes, 2 children can travel for free with an adult holding an Adult Pass. Any extra child should carry a discounted Youth Pass. Children under the age of 4 travel for free. It is not just children who can benefit from reduced pricing but also youth and senior citizens, making it ideal for families.
A travel day is a 24-hour period that lasts from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM CET during which your Interrail Global Pass is valid. These travel days are consecutive for Continuous Passes and can be chosen as per requirement for Flexi Passes.
An Interrail Global Pass is worth every penny if you value convenience, cost-efficiency, and the freedom to improvise. It is one of the most hassle-free ways to travel within Europe, without the need to queue up at ticket counters for every ride. It also offers great flexibility to your travel plans and doesn’t tie your itinerary to train timings; you can simply hop on the next train that comes along in most cases.
No, as long you do not change trains after midnight, overnight trains use only one travel day - the day of departure. Changing trains after midnight will cost you an additional travel day. Do keep in mind that you cannot use your Interrail Global Pass on an overnight train on the last travel day as the pass expires at 11:59 PM.
Your Interrail Global Pass is valid for 11 months after purchase. You can activate it anytime during that period. Check out the How to Use Interrail Pass page for more details.
Yes, you can modify the travel day any time before the start of the travel day (00:00 hours). Once the travel day has started, you cannot cancel or modify it.
To show your pass to the ticket inspector, go to “My Pass” on the Rail Planner app and select “Show ticket”. The barcode that appears will be scanned and checked to see if the train you are traveling on is added as a journey to the pass.
You must provide your name, country of residence, and passport number exactly as on the passport while booking an Interrail Global Pass. While on the train journey, the ticket inspector will demand to see your pass, passport, visa/residence permit, and seat reservation tickets (if needed).
